Aide to Nigerian governor dies in India

Spokesperson to Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno State, Mallam Isa Gusau, is dead.

Gusau died on Thursday at a specialist hospital in New Delhi, India, after a brief illness.

Gusau was actively involved in the publicity for the governor right from his sick bed in India, issuing statements and carrying out his duties remotely.

A multi-award winning communication strategist, Gusau was the winner of Social Media Category of the annual Spokesperson Communication Awards (SCA) 2023 which was hosted by Image Merchant Promotion Ltd (IMPR)

Gusau, who was also the spokesman for the present Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima, when he was the governor of Borno State, had been on admission at an Indian hospital for over a month.

He was a former reporter with the Daily Trust Newspapers in Borno State before his appointment as media aide by former Governor Shettima.
