Unknown gunmen have attacked the Soka Ibadan residence of Yoruba Nation Agitator, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho.

Igboho spokesman, Olayemi Koiki declared that his residence was attacked around 1am on Thursday alleging that the identities of the attackers are soldiers.

Koiki said, “I can confirm that those who came are definitely Nigerian soldiers. There are more than 100 soldiers that came but he (Sunday Igboho) is currently safe.”

According to the media aide, some people were abducted by the gunmen during the attack.

Details of the incident are still sketchy as the state’s Police Public Relations Officer, Olugbenga Ayo was unable to take calls.

The reported attack is coming less than 72 hours to a planned mega rally for the secession of ‘Yoruba Nation’ in Lagos State.

Igboho has been conducting rallies across the South-West geopolitical zone to agitate his secessionist campaign, quoting injustice doled out to the people of the region and also deteriorating insecurity.

Thursday attack is one of the many reported attacks on Igboho and his Ibadan home since January 2021 when he issued a seven-day ultimatum to killer herders in the Ibarapa area of Oyo State.
