Africa should cancel Kemi Badenoch — Seun Kuti

Afrobeat star and activist Seun Kuti has called for African governments to take a bold stand by barring UK Conservative Party leader Kemi Badenoch from setting foot on the continent.

Kuti’s fiery remarks came during an Instagram live session, where he accused Kemi Badenoch of disrespecting Nigerians and the memory of their ancestors.

His outrage stems from Badenoch’s controversial comments about her childhood in Nigeria, where she described living in a nation rife with fear, insecurity, and corruption.

“She said we should pay Europeans for colonialism,” Seun Kuti fumed.

“She’s insulting us and our ancestors—millions killed, our lands pillaged—and yet she wants us to foot the bill for it? She should be banned from Africa, and if she steps here, she should be jailed.”

The Afrobeat icon’s call for action highlights a growing debate about how African nations should respond to perceived slights from influential figures in the diaspora.

Badenoch, despite criticism from Nigerian Vice President Kashim Shettima and others, has stood by her statements, fueling further outrage.
