Affluent indigenes of Idanre Kingdom of Ondo state have been tasked and encouraged to raise N10m each for the renovation of Idanre palace.

During a fundraising dinner for the 45th Owa of Idanre Kingdom Coronation Anniversary of the monarch, Oba Frederick Aroloye which is to hold in December, federal lawmakers Ayo Akinyelure and Tajudeen Adefisoye, the Senator representing the Ondo Central Senatorial District and the House of Representatives member from the Idanre/Ifedore Federal Constituency respectively, expressed how optimistic they are that affluent indigenes residing in the Abuja will each raise the 10m naira before December 6 this year.

This is contained in a statement on Tuesday by the Akinyelure’s media aide, Charles Akinwon, titled, ‘Abuja stands still for Idanre monarch as indigenes set for platinum donation level’.

The statement explained that the Idanre Northern Descendants Union in Abuja pledged to hit the N10m platinum donation level to have its members’ names in the Hall of Fame of the remodelled palace.

Akinyelure and Adefisoye both donated N1m on the spot and promised to request support from their friends and colleagues.

Dr Benson Ajisegiri, the Chairman, Budget and Finance Committee, explained that the funds can be raised by soliciting support from friends and colleagues and doesn’t have to be solely borne by the indigenes.

He said, “You don’t have to be the one to donate all that is required to put your name in the Hall of Fame, which is platinum level; contact your friends, colleagues and associates for support.

“In Akure, I contacted my friends, who have already sent into the anniversary account their donations in my name and I made N5m. My target here is another N5m to put my name in the Hall of Fame.”

He also urged other Idanre sons and daughters to do the same, to mobilise friends for the event.
