Jose Peseiro has clinched his first victory as Super Eagles coach after beating Sierra Leone in the ongoing AFCON qualifiers.

The Super Eagles won the match 2-1 in the MKO Abiola Stadium Abuja on Thursday, June 9.

Match heros Alex Iwobi and Victor Osimhen were able to find the net to help the Super Eagles secure a comeback.

Sierra Leone took an unexpected lead in the 11th minute after Jonathan Morsay beating goalkeeper, Uzoho from close range assisted by Musa Kamara.

Iwobi leveled the game within five minutes to restore Eagles’ hopes as he dribbled past the Leone Stars’ defence to beat goalkeeper Mohamed Kamara.

The winning was sealed by Osimhen in the 41st minute, thanks to an assist from Simon.

Looking more energized in the second half, Nigeria came at their opponents with a strong will to increase their win.

In the 51st minute, Villarreal winger, Samuel Chukweze, missed a sitter with just the goalkeeper to beat.

The 2013 African champions now take charge of Group A with three points.

They will meet in an away fixture against Sao Tome and Principe on Monday at the Stade Adrar in Agadir to continue their journey to Cote d’Ivoire 2023.
