A game of diplomacy or playing silent gimmicks to see the outcome of a brewing feud? The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has released a statement without fully addressing the elephant in the room.

However, eagle-eyed viewers will notice the absence of Libya and Nigeria from the schedule following yesterday’s gimmicks between the Libyan Football Federation and the Libyan government.

What’s interesting is the diplomatic silence by CAF in address the aftermath of the Super Eagles forfeiting the fixture against Libya.

The African footballing body had on Monday released a political statement stressing on its disappointment with the treatment of the Super Eagles players in Libya. However CAF’s subsequent actions holds no indication that the body has any agency to resolving the controversy that came with the Nigeria Super Eagles team being stranded in a deserted Libyan airport following the gimmicks by its government.

Some Nigerians have taken to social media to attack the CAF media handles following it’s social media activities, especially in failing to address the aftermath of Monday’s controversy.
