Adebola Williams, Tolu Oni Named Young Global Leaders Class 2019

World Economic Forum’s foundation for remarkable leaders under 40, Young Global Leaders, has announced its class of 2019, TOPNAIJA.NG reports.

The 127-member class includes the founder of the first app providing advice on contraception in Bangladesh, the managing director of a leading supermarket chain looking to ban plastic packaging, and a female scientist whose work is revolutionising batteries.

In the class are 10 leaders from Africa, including Red Media Africa‘s CEO Adebola Williams and Tolu Oni, an Associate Professor, School of Public Health and Family Medicine, University of Cape Town, South Africa.

Also on the list are Botswana’s Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry, Bogolo Joy Kenewendo, Zimbabwe’s Minister of Youth, Sport, Arts and Recreation, Kirsty Coventry, Mali’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Kamissa Camara and David Moinina Sengeh, Chief Innovation Officer; Head of Sierra Leone’s Directorate of Science, Technology and Innovation (DSTI).

Other Africans on the list include: Wanuri Kahiu, Film Director, AFROBUBBLEGUM, Kenya; Aminata Kane Ndiaye, Chief Executive Officer, Orange Sierra Leone., Sierra Leone; Anta Ngom Bathily, Managing Director, Groupe SEDIMA, Senegal; and Umra Omar, Founder, Safari Doctors, Kenya.

The list also includes Mamuka Bakhtadze, Prime Minister of Georgia; Carlos Alvarado Quesada, President of Costa Rica; Juan Guaidó, President of the National Assembly of Venezuela; Anton Alikhanov, Governor of Kaliningrad, Russian Federation and Sarah bint Yousif Al-Amiri, Minister of State for Advanced Sciences, UAE and the Chairperson of UAE’s Council of Scientists.
