Actress Nse Ikpe-Etim opens up on being ‘barren’
Veteran Nollywood actress, Nse Ikpe-Etim has opened up about how she felt when told she couldn’t be able to bear a child.
Talented actress Nse Ikpe-Etim explained how inadequate she felt when the Doctors had to remove her womb in other to save her life.
TopNaija recalls that in 2019, Nse Ikpe-Etim revealed that she removed her womb after she was diagnosed with Adenomyosis.
Adenomyosis is a gynecological medical condition in which endometrial tissue exists within and grows into the uterine wall.
Adenomyosis most often occurs late in childbearing years and typically disappears after menopause
Speaking on the decision in an interview with popular Journalist, Chude Jideonwo, Nse Ikpe-Etim revealed that it did not hit as a thing of shame, rather she felt inadequate.
In her words;
“Finding out I couldn’t have children didn’t make me feel ashamed. I felt inadequate. I felt inadequate as a woman but not ashamed, which was because of how I was brought up.
Where I’m from we don’t tie shame to ourselves. Where I was brought up, we live through life fully.”
On being open to adoption, the thespian said: “You never say never, but right now, my husband and I are just dog parents. People should be allowed to live, my husband and I are okay right now.”
