The acting Governor of Kaduna State, Dr Hadiza Balarabe, has advised Muslim women in an interview with newsmen to ensure that their children are well brought up according to the injunction of Islam.

She said this during the eighth Annual National Conference of the Initiative for Muslim Women of Nigeria on Thursday in Kaduna.

Being the Special Guest at the event, she explained that, as mothers, women were given the task of imbibing good behaviour, virtues and moulding the character of children and this leads to them being the key player in curbing insecurity in the society.

The theme of the program was: “The Role of Islam in Curbing Insecurity.” The acting Governor said that drug abuse was a major driver of many heinous crimes being committed in societies.

She implore mothers to give optimum attention to parenting, moral training, and religious education of their children.

Balarabe said that the government was spending huge resources on security, adding that addressing the root cause must begin from the home.

“I urge women to take more interest in seeing that their children are brought up according to the injunction of Islam. Anything that we need is in the Quran and Sunnah.

“One of the issues that I pointed out is the issue of drug abuse amongst our youth.

Dr Hadiza Balarabe said,

“I want them to look at it critically and look at the implication for security and see what solution we can have, from the lessons that we have learned while dealing with these children and move our state forward.”
