Absolute Massacre – Rio Ferdinand Reacts In The Aftermath Of 7-0
Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has called the club’s 7-0 defeat at Liverpool on Sunday an “absolute massacre” and urged the players to quickly regroup ahead of their next Premier League game against Southampton.
Liverpool dominated the game at Anfield, with goals from Roberto Firmino, Cody Gakpo, Darwin Nunez, and Mohamed Salah securing a comfortable victory over their arch-rivals. The defeat marked one of the worst in Manchester United’s history and has led to widespread criticism of the team’s performance.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Rio Ferdinand said, “We have been pulverised. That was a massacre. An absolute massacre at Anfield. That is all you can call it. The players will be feeling embarrassed.”
Rio Ferdinand went on to stress the importance of getting back to work and not allowing the defeat to derail the team’s season. “Ten Hag, man… If I was him, the team would know I would be upset, but one of the main points would be, don’t let this derail your season now,” he said.
“You come back tomorrow, you get back to work, you look at what went wrong and then you go to Southampton at Old Trafford.”
The defeat to Liverpool is a major setback for Manchester United, who had been in good form prior to the game. The team had won their previous four Premier League matches, scoring 12 goals in the process.
However, the heavy defeat at Anfield highlights the issues that still exist within the team. Manchester United are currently in seventh place in the Premier League, six points behind fourth-placed Arsenal.
The defeat will also put pressure on Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who has already faced criticism from some sections of the fanbase this season. Solskjaer will need to find a way to motivate his team and get them back on track if they are to have any chance of finishing in the top four this season.
