Absolute disgrace — Chelsea legend tears into Manchester United

Manchester United concluded their Europa League campaign with a screeching halt on Thursday night following a 3-0 defeat to Sevilla at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium in the second leg of their quarter-final tie. The result meant that the Red Devils were eliminated 5-2 on aggregate, with the first leg having ended in a 2-2 draw at Old Trafford.

The performance of Erik ten Hag’s men was heavily criticized by football pundits, including former Chelsea star Jason Cundy. Cundy did not hold back in his assessment of the game, calling the Manchester United players an “absolute disgrace” and lambasting them for their lackluster display.

“They were an absolute disgrace all over the pitch. They must have gone into this game knowing how difficult it was,” Cundy said during an interview with talkSPORT.

Manchester United started the game brightly, but things took a turn for the worse when Youssef En-Nesyri took advantage of a Harry Maguire mistake to give Sevilla the lead.

Sevilla then doubled their advantage shortly after the restart through a Loic Bade header which goalkeeper David De Gea failed to keep out. The Spanish side then put the game to bed in the 78th minute when En-Nesyri scored his second goal of the game.

Despite the defeat, Erik ten Hag remains positive about the team’s prospects for the rest of the season.

The Red Devils will now turn their attention to the FA Cup, where they will face Brighton in the semi-finals on Sunday.
