Abducted baby sold for N800k rescued in Lagos Market
Many have rejoiced after a baby was rescued after he was abducted and sold for N800,000 by the housemaid in Lagos.
The baby was said to have been found and rescued in the Shomolu area of Lagos State.
An X user, #Dannysleek, in a now-deleted tweets, had on Saturday raised an alarm that one Ruth Okezie, who happens to be a maid hired through an agency ran away with the baby.
The maid who hails from Anambra State, reportedly absconded with the baby from the home in Shomolu around 2 am on Saturday.
After many concerns and outcry on social media, the police caught the maid in Ikorodu, however, the baby was not with her as she had confessed of already selling the baby out for N800,000.
The Lagos State PRO, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirming the event, took to his X handle on Monday morning to reveal that the baby was rescued by the police after she was abandoned in Alade Market in the Shomolu area of the state.
He wrote, “Due to intense manhunt and pressure from the police, the buyer in the early hours of today abandoned the baby in Alade Market, Shomolu. Baby was promptly rescued by the police.
“The baby has since been handed over to her parents after they positively identified her.
“Efforts are still on to apprehend the buyer who is currently on the run.”
#Danysleek also confirmed the report on his X handle.
He wrote, “Good news Twitter fam! The baby has been found. Munachimso has been found!
“She has been reunited with her parents in perfect health! Glory to God forever! Thank you so much Twitter fam for coming through with your retweets! God bless y’all!”
