A sitting governor can dethrone any monarch – Tolu Ogunlesi
Special Assistant to President Buhari on Digital/New Media, Tolu Ogunlesi has weighed in on a Twitter conversation around the powers of a governor and monarchs in the state.
Ogunlesi has said that a sitting governor has the power to dethrone any monarch in his state.
He tweeted this following the ongoing debate on social media whether the Kano state governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, had the constitutional authority to dethrone the immediate past Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi II.
Ogunlesi added that Monarchs are appointed by the state governors and are also funded by state governors and so they are answerable to the governors.
