“A gang up coming to bring me down” — Davido
Popular Nigerian musician David Adeleke, widely known as Davido, has issued a stern warning to his fellow artists, including Burna Boy and BNXN, in the wake of recent controversies.
Taking to his verified Instagram page on March 19th, 2024, Davido expressed his frustration following a public spat with BNXN, formerly known as Buju, who had allegedly discredited Davido’s contributions to the music industry.
The feud escalated when BNXN, responding to criticism from a Davido fan, reportedly claimed that the music artiste “knows nothing about music.”
In response, Davido unfollowed BNXN on social media and withdrew a tweet announcing a forthcoming collaboration with the artist.
Additionally, Davido’s strained relationship with Burna Boy, characterized by public exchanges of insults, has further intensified tensions within the Nigerian music scene. Both artists have frequently traded barbs, with Burna Boy reportedly mocking the ’30 billion’ crooner for his lack of Grammy wins despite multiple nominations.
Moreover, Davido has faced criticism from supporters of his industry rival, Wizkid, with whom he shares a competitive relationship.
The ongoing rivalry between their respective fan bases has often resulted in the Grammy nominated artiste being targeted and dragged online.
Adding to the negativity surrounding him, artist Omah Lay recently suggested that Davido harbored ill feelings towards him after he recognized one of his songs following a visit by Kai Cenat.
In response to these challenges, the music artiste took to social media to address the criticism, asserting that despite efforts to discredit him, he remains resilient with the support of God. He declared 2024 as the “YEAR OF THE BEAST,” promising fans that it would be one of his best years yet and teasing the release of hit songs.
In his Instagram post, Davido wrote, “They all come together to discredit me… but God working overtime! 2024 YEAR OF THE BEAST!! 🔊🌎🔥 FIX UR SPEAKERS WE DEY COME!!”
