"Feeling Great" app secures $8M for mental health support

A new mental health app, Feeling Great, launched today after securing $8 million in seed funding, aiming to make Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) techniques more accessible.

The app, co-created by renowned psychiatrist Dr. David Burns and former Doordash and Reddit growth lead Jeremy Karmel, is designed to provide support to individuals who may not have access to professional mental health services.

The app, which had been in beta testing with around 3,000 users, offers interactive courses on managing emotions and an AI-powered chatbot based on Dr. Burns’ T.E.A.M. approach (Testing, Empathy, Assessment of Resistance, and Methods).

The AI is designed to provide empathetic responses and practical advice, helping users cope with negative emotions.

Despite the advanced AI capabilities, the app is not intended to replace human therapists. Users are cautioned during onboarding that the app is a supplement, not a substitute for professional mental health care.

The app is currently available in the U.S. on both Android and iOS, offering a seven-day free trial, followed by an annual subscription fee of $99.

The $8 million seed funding round was co-led by Learn Capital and TitleTownTech, with participation from Lux Ventures, WaveMaker Three-Sixty Health, Pacific Health Ventures, and Treble Capital.

The funds will be used to further develop and market the app, with plans for future features including voice-based AI and an anonymous mode.
