Russian flags: "There's a plot to overthrow Tinubu" -- Shehu Sani

Former Senator Shehu Sani has alleged a covert plot to destabilize Nigeria’s government, with EndBadGovernance protesters in northern states flying Russian flags.

The former lawmaker claims the protests, which have sparked national concern, are not merely about dissatisfaction with government policies but are part of a larger scheme to incite chaos and potentially overthrow President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

According to Sani, the protesters, seen in viral videos waving Russian flags and calling for military rule, were reportedly incentivized with money and materials, including the foreign flags. The Nigeria Police Force (NPF), Department of State Services (DSS), and other security agencies have swiftly responded with several arrests, underscoring the seriousness of the situation.

Sani, speaking on Channels Television, described the events as a carefully orchestrated attempt to create anarchy and disorder. “A day before the last protest, money was shared to the youths, and Russian flags were also distributed,” he said, suggesting a deliberate effort to sow discord and challenge the current government.

The former senator’s comments have added a new layer of intrigue and concern to the ongoing unrest. As authorities continue to investigate, the question remains: Who is behind this alleged plot, and what are their ultimate goals? The nation watches closely.
