U.S Elections: Elon Musk falls under political scrutiny

Amid growing concerns over data privacy and political transparency, Michigan’s secretary of state’s office has launched an investigation into America PAC, a political action committee reportedly backed by billionaire Elon Musk.

The inquiry, still in its early stages, seeks to determine whether the PAC has violated state laws, particularly concerning the collection and use of personal voter information.

The controversy erupted after reports surfaced that the America PAC had been gathering detailed voter information from individuals across Michigan and other states. This data collection was facilitated through a “register to vote” section on the PAC’s website, raising questions about how the information is being utilized and whether proper disclosures were made to those who provided their details.

“While America PAC operates as a federal entity, we’re examining their actions to ensure compliance with state regulations,” said a spokesperson for Jocelyn Benson, Michigan’s secretary of state. The office has indicated that any potential legal violations will be referred to the Michigan Attorney General.

The investigation comes at a time when Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, has increasingly voiced right-wing opinions and publicly endorsed Donald Trump. This has sparked additional scrutiny of his political activities and affiliations, particularly as they intersect with sensitive voter data.

As the probe unfolds, the key questions remain: How is the collected data being used, and did America PAC overstep legal boundaries in its efforts to influence the political landscape?
