Euro 2024 final: "It's heartbreaking" -- Jude Bellingham

England and Real Madrid midfielder, Jude Bellingham breaks his silence on the 2-1 defeat to Spain in the Euro 2024 final in Germany.

The Euro 2024 piece marked back to back losses in a major European final for the Three Lions, this time without the team pushing for penalties like they did in the 2020 edition.

The ‘La Roja’ reminiscent of their tie versus France in the semi-final, were able to force out a 2-1 win over the Three Lions on Sunday night to emerge as Champions of Europe courtesy of goals by Nico Williams and Mikel Oyarzabal.

England on their end were able to level the tie in the 73rd minute thanks to Cole Palmer of Chelsea, however, late on saw an 86th minute goal from Oyarzabal to steal the tie away from the Three Lions.

Post match, Jude Bellingham had a lot to take out from the match.

In his analysis of the game, the Real Madrid star said;

“I think we sacrificed a lot throughout the last weeks, you know, it’s so tough these days with the crazy schedules and then coming together for the end of the season for one last tournament.”

On what the defeat means for the group, Jude Bellingham said;

“It’s difficult on the body, you know, mentally, physically you’re exhausted but for our country we’re wanting to give everything and then, yeah, to lose in that way is really cruel, you know.”

The former Borussia Dortmund midfielder goes on to admit that the game could have gone better had the team played their best game.

“We probably didn’t play our best game but there was definitely some good moments and we felt like we got back into the game and then to kind of be stuck up with the late goal.”

“It’s heartbreaking, we all wanted nothing more than to make history and to make the people of England proud and we haven’t managed to do it, we didn’t quite deliver. There’s reasons for that and I’m sure as a team and going forward we’ll analyse it. But yeah,” Jude Bellingham stressed.
