Nigerian chef Hilda Baci recently celebrated the one-year anniversary of her remarkable achievement in breaking the Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon.

The historic event took place in Lagos, where Hilda Baci, alongside her dedicated team of approximately 100 individuals, surpassed the 100-hour mark, setting a new milestone in culinary excellence.

Reflecting on the momentous occasion that commenced on May 12 and concluded on May 17, 2023, Hilda expressed her heartfelt gratitude to her team for their unwavering support throughout the arduous journey of the marathon. The five-day celebration commemorated the remarkable feat achieved by Hilda and her team.

“On this day, one year ago, we embarked on the official attempt that etched its name in history. At approximately 5 p.m. on May 12, I ignited the flame for the very first time, only to extinguish it on May 17, five days later. Thus, we celebrate a five-day-long anniversary, and I am immensely grateful for it,” remarked Hilda Baci on her social media profile.

Acknowledging the indispensable role played by her team, affectionately referred to as the Alpha Team, Hilda credited them for being the driving force behind the realization of her ambitious dream. She expressed profound appreciation for their dedication and contribution to making the culinary marathon a resounding success.

The commemoration also served as an opportunity for Hilda to extend gratitude to the heads of departments and the entire team comprising approximately 100 individuals who played pivotal roles in orchestrating the extraordinary culinary endeavor.
