Messi awarded man of the match as Argentina claim another title

Lionel Messi was named Man of the match as Argentina win 3-0 against European champions, Italy.

The Copa America champions and Euro 2020 winners played at Wembley to claim the La Finalissima trophy on Wednesday, June 1.

Lautaro Martinez, Angel Di Maria and Paulo Dybala all made the score sheet in the superiority contest.

Lionel Scaloni’s team were two goals ahead by half-time, with Messi for Inter Milan striker, Martinez.

Messi got his second assist in the dying seconds of the game assisting Dybala to make it 3-0.

The UEFA Technical Observer Panel stated that Messi “controlled the game from start to finish.

“He showed great skill to make the assist for Lautaro Martinez and more chances for his teammates and was unlucky not to score himself.

“He has put in a masterclass of a performance for the Wembley crowd; it was a joy to watch.”
