79-year old British actress, Viscella Richards found dead

British actress Viscella Richards, known professionally as Vikki Richards, was discovered dead at her residence in North Valsyn in Trinidad on Wednesday, March 6.

Richards, 79, who gained fame for her roles in British television and stage productions, was found with her hands bound inside her bedroom. Police suspect foul play, attributing her death to a robbery gone awry after her property was ransacked.

Although no signs of physical violence beyond her bound hands were evident, the circumstances surrounding her demise have sparked an intense investigation.

The veteran actress, best remembered for her supporting role in the 1973 British film “Black Snake,” initially made her mark on the stage before transitioning to television, featuring in popular series such as “The Onedin Line,” “Return of the Saint,” and “Howard’s Way.”

Local law enforcement officials launched a probe following the grim discovery made by a friend who became concerned after failing to reach Richards since Tuesday evening, March 5.

The friend, accompanied by barrister Sir Timothy Cassel KC, found the front gate closed upon arrival, but the door ajar. Richards’ body was subsequently found on the bedroom floor, casting a somber shadow over the quiet neighborhood.

Described by shocked friends and neighbors as a warm, engaging personality, Viscella Richards had recently returned to Trinidad after spending time in England and Europe, indulging her passion for travel and shopping.

However, her solo living arrangements in the area raised concerns among those who knew her, fearing she may have been perceived as an easy target.

An anonymous family member, declining to delve into the specifics of her demise, mentioned that items of jewelry were missing from Richards’ residence.

Born in Trinidad but holding both Trinidadian and British citizenship, Viscella Richards had moved to the UK with her family during her childhood before ultimately returning to her native land following her retirement from the entertainment industry.
