According to the spokesperson for the police in the state, DSP Catherine Anene, the suspect was arrested in Naka, in the Gwer West Local Government Area of the state.
The man, who reportedly confessed to have tested positive for human immunodeficiency virus, was said to have been having sex with little girls in the community since his wife left him.
Anene said the suspect would be taken for a medical examination to verify the purported HIV status.
She said, “The man is 50 years old and was arrested for defiling a five-year-old girl.”
