5 reasons why people fail

Published

on

Any successful person will honestly admit, failure happens, and we have all had our fair share of it. Here are 5 major reasons as to why people fail

  1. Lack of Persistence

More people fail not because they lack knowledge or inspiration but because they just quit. It is important to remember two words: persistence and resistance. Persist in what must be done and resist what ought not to be done.

Thomas Edison once said; “I have not failed. I have just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.” You have to try another approach if the previous one did not work out. Persistence is important, but repeating the same actions over and over again may not get you to your so much desired success. Look at your previous unsuccessful efforts and decide what to change. Keep making adjustments and corrections using your experience as a guide.

  1. Lack of Conviction

People who lack conviction are like those in an ocean, but what do you do? Do you swim to save your life or get drowned? People without conviction go along to get along because they lack confidence. They conform in order to get accepted, even when they know that what they are doing is wrong. Decide what is important to you. If something is worth doing, it is worth doing right and doing well. It is okay to collaborate for success, but never compromise your values.

  1. Dismissal of Past Mistakes

Some people live and learn, and some only live. There is always a lesson to be learnt from every of your failure, its all part of your process to becoming a successful person eventually. Failure is a teacher if we have the right attitude and wise people learn from their mistakes. Define the problem better. Analyze the situation, what do you want to achieve? what was your strategy? why didn’t it work? Are you really viewing the problem correctly? Think about what you are really trying to do.

  1. Lack of Discipline

Anyone who has accomplished anything worthwhile has never done it without discipline. Discipline takes self-control, sacrifice and avoiding distractions and temptations. It means staying focused. Although having an idealized vision of what success will look and feel like can be motivational, it might not be realistic. Succeeding at one goal would not eliminate all your problems. Be clear on what will satisfy your objectives.

  1. Poor Self-Esteem

Poor self-esteem is a lack of self-worth where persons begin to feel inferior and incompetent. People with low self-confidence are constantly trying to find themselves rather than creating the person they want to be. You might have failed, but you are not a failure until you stop trying. Think of yourself as someone still striving toward a goal, and you will be better able to maintain your patience and perseverance in the long run.
