5 Reasons Why You Have not achieved your Goals

  1. You are afraid of failure

This is one of the biggest reasons why people do not get started. Different thoughts of ‘what ifs’ begin to creep in and so you are holding yourself back. Really you are just afraid to go out and do it, you are afraid of failing, but you have convinced yourself that it is for a practical reason that you are not going to get started and all sorts of other excuses. So every step along the way, you entertain some fear and more fear. Understand the real reason that is causing you to not go forward on your goal, and break through those excuses that you are telling yourself.

 

  1. You are afraid of being judged.

So it is not just the fear of failing, it is the fear of failing in front of other people. What will people think if you do not do well? And you become so worried about what other people will think such that you smash yourself back down when you are about to start something. We fear judgment subconsciously. Feeling that discomfort and working your way through it, builds the muscle so you can do it again and again, each time in more powerful ways. So any time you feel that you are holding yourself back from doing something that you really want to do, because you are worried about being judged by somebody else, then that’s a signal in your mind that at least that you need to go out and do it. You have to force yourself to feel the discomfort and break through it so that you are building the muscle for the next time, and the next time, you are stronger.

 

  1. You just do not care enough

A lot of people set the wrong goals. A lot of people when you ask what is their ultimate goal, they come up with something that actually does not motivate them. The thing that you say that you care so much about, you do not actually care that much about it. You have to love what you do. So if you are doing something for the wrong reason you are never going to get to that finish line. You have to love that goal you have that much that you would do it even if it did not make any sense. If you have that level of care, then you will get there. Most people do not because they picked the wrong goals.

 

  1. You Are Not Consistent.

You may have one day where you are energetic, working hard and steady grinding, and then the next day you are not working as hard anymore. Sometimes, because you read a book or listened to a podcast, you get inspired but the truth is you are not consistent. Consistency is going to be the key. If you look at the people who are the greatest in the world at what they do, they put in their hours and worked really hard. This does not mean that you work only on Mondays and the rest of the week, you have nothing else. If you practice at something once a week, you are not going to get anywhere, it has to be daily.

  1. Lack of self awareness

Truth is many people actually know little about themselves. Everybody has a plan for you and an idea of what you are supposed to be doing with your life. Your parents, friends, colleagues etc., If you do not have a great plan for yourself, you are just going to be following everyone else’s plan. The idea of self-awareness is really important. You should understand what your one word is and when you have this self-awareness, then now you can take that and start planning to let those good things happen to you on purpose going forward, that you recognize them, you start hanging around the right people, making clear decisions, start getting results and that you start achieving your goals. If otherwise, you are going to continue to live a random path and you are going to continue to live up to other people’s expectations of what they want for you instead of the life that you want for yourself.
