When we indulge in negative thoughts, negative thinking and negative self talk, and keep a negative mindset about ourselves, it can lower our self confidence, self esteem and happiness and it keeps us from accomplishing our dreams.

If you think you might be a victim of this, here are a few tips, which will help you overcome negative self talk in 5 easy steps.

 

  1. Forgive Yourself

Don’t be so quick to judge yourself if you have made a mistake, an error or a blunder. Think to yourselves the reasons why that could have happened. Protect yourself from yourself. Don’t indulge in negative thoughts or negative thinking.  Maybe you did say something out of line but it can be a wrong choice of words and everyone makes mistakes. Forgive yourself. Negative self talk can be really damaging.

 

  1. Possible Thinking

If you think there is something lacking in you, think of the possibilities how you can fix it. If you are fat, you can decide to lose weight. Whatever brings you down, think of a solution for the problem and give that solution to yourself. Get over the negative mindset and negative self talk about yourself and start living!

 

  1. Be Your Best Friend

Before saying anything negative about you to yourself, or passing a critical judgment, think about it. Would you have said this about your best friend? What if somebody else said it about your best friend? Be your own best friend and stand up for yourself. Stop encouraging a negative mindset and eventually you will stop having negative thoughts.

 

 

  1. Build Your Self Confidence

The first step of positivity is your self confidence and no negative self talk. If you do not feel comfortable in your own skin, then nobody would think you are worthy. Try new things, new skills and abilities. Then nobody can tell you “you can’t do” if you know can do it. Always remember, confidence is the core foundation of self esteem.

 

 

  1. Positive Talk

Lastly, replace your negative self talk with positive talk. Replace your “cannot do” with “can do”. Train your mind to conduct positive talk, the mind is extremely powerful and constructive pep talk with yourself will help you achieve happiness. When you have a voice in your head criticizing you for something new you want to try, go ahead and do it. Put that demon to rest by making sure you achieve that goal.

Positivity comes in from lack of negativity. Be happy. Take risks, do not let others dictate your happiness; nobody knows you better than you know yourself.
