35 houses destroyed in Igbonna community, Kwara State
A heavy rainstorm devastated the Igbonna community in Kwara State, destroying 35 houses and displacing numerous residents.
This calamity occurred just days after a similar storm left over 1,000 people homeless in Iyara community, Kogi State.
Hassan Adekunle, Head of Media and Publicity for the Kwara State Fire Service, confirmed the extent of the damage caused by the rainstorm.
According to Adekunle, many residents were left without shelter due to the devastating impact on their homes.
A. Salami, the National President of the Igbonna Descendants Development Union, described the damage as unprecedented in the community’s history.
Salami lamented that the majority of the houses were either completely destroyed or badly damaged, leaving residents in confusion and without a place to seek refuge.
As a result, members of the community are calling on the government and well-meaning individuals and organizations to urgently assist them.
