3-Year-Old Pupil Found Dead In Plantain Garden

A three year-old pupil of a primary school at Emu-Unor, Ndokwa West Local Governments Area, Delta State have been found dead in a plantain garden in the community.
Simply identified as Nice, the pupil who was in the nursery section of the school was discovered by a search in the plantain garden outside the school premises on Friday after school hours.
Giving details of the incident, a dependable source told Vanguard that “On that fateful day, the pupil was marked in and out of the school and when the child did not return home after closing hours, her parents went to look for her in the school.
“When they got there, they met her class teacher and told her that they have not seen their daughter. Together, they started searching for the child in the neighborhood and in the process, they found her dead in a plantain garden.
“Her nose and ears were stuffed with plantain leaves and the search party raised alarm and alerted the police. The police have taken to the body of the child to a mortuary in one of the hospitals in Abbi.
“The headmistress and the teacher were detained at the Abbi divisional headquarters but were transfered to the state command headquarters.
Efforts to contact Police Public Relations Officer of the state command, Mr. Andrew Aniamaka for comments were abortive at press time as he sent a text message that read “l am sorry, l am in a meeting.”
