A 25-year-old gang member, identified as Omemma, has been allegedly stabbed to death by members of a rival cult or gang in the Mile 1, Diobu axis of Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

The victim was said to have been going about his normal activities when the assailant attacked and inflicted several knife cuts on him.

Omemma’s demise was reportedly a reprisal against an earlier attack suspected to have been launched by his his gang.

The incident caused a commotion in the area as traders and commuters took to their heels before local vigilantes intervened and calm was finally restored.

The acting state Police Public Relations Officer, Grace Iringe-Iroko, confirmed the incident, saying an investigation has been ordered to unmask the attackers.

“I won’t say it was a rival cult attack. It is safe to say he was stabbed by an unknown person. For now, the matter is under investigation.

“There is calm now and after our investigation, we will be able to know who carried out the attack,” she stated.
