Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu has opened up on contesting for the 2023 presidential election.

Akeredolu who is the chairman of the South West Governors Forum, made his intentions clear in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Richard Olatunde in Akure on Wednesday.

The governor announced that he has no interest in the 2023 presidency.

In the last 14 days, campaign posters and fliers showing Akeredolu’s pictures flooded social media.

His running mate was said to be Yobe State Governor, Mala Mai Buni.

“This is a needless distraction. Even if I am qualified and competent to run for presidency, these campaign posters do not represent my political disposition.

As a matter of fact, I have just been re-elected as the Ondo State Governor, hence I am focused on good governance.

All those involved in these distractions should be guided because I believe only God can put men in position”, the governor said.
