The Supreme Court of Nigeria has nullified the primary election that produced Senator Emmanuel Bwacha as the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for Taraba State.

The decision was made following a suit by former aspirant, David Kente, who contested Bwacha’s victory alleging irregularities in the primary election.

The Federal High Court in Jalingo had previously ruled in Kente’s favor and sacked Bwacha as the party’s candidate.

However, the Court of Appeal in Yola set aside this ruling, ordering Bwacha’s name be forwarded to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as the APC candidate.

But the Supreme Court has now affirmed the verdict of the Federal High Court, nullifying Bwacha’s nomination.

Thugs Attack, Shoot Seyi Makinde’s Convoy

Meanwhile, the convoy of Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, was attacked on Tuesday at Igangan in the Ibarapa Local Government Area.

The special assistant to the governor on print media, Moses Alao, confirmed the attack in a statement.

The attack was allegedly orchestrated by some opposition elements while the governor was heading to Tapa after addressing supporters at the Igangan town hall.

According to Alao, the governor was standing on an open-roof SUV to greet residents when some hoodlums started pelting the convoy with sticks and stones.

The situation escalated when the hoodlums brought out guns and started shooting sporadically at the vehicles in the governor’s entourage.

Alao expressed concern for families affected by the attack and emphasized that Governor Makinde is a man of peace and his ambition is not worth the loss of any life from the state.
