2022 Ramadan starts on April 2 as Moon has been sighted

The Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs and Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar have announced on Friday that 1443AH Ramadan will start in the country on Saturday, April 2, 2022.

The NSCIA President-General , announced this on Friday in a broadcast.

Meanwhile, the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan also starts on Saturday in Saudi Arabia and some Arab countries.

During Ramadan, Muslims have to abstain from eating, drinking, and smoking from dawn to sunset.

Ramadan, is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, observed by Muslims worldwide as a month of fasting, prayer, reflection and community. A commemoration of Muhammad’s first revelation, the annual observance of Ramadan is regarded as one of the Five Pillars of Islam and lasts twenty-nine to thirty days, from one sighting of the crescent moon to the next
