19-year old boy arraigned for allegedly stealing two cell phones
The police on Tuesday arraigned a 19-year-old boy, Adamu Abdullahi, before a Karu Grade I Area Court, Abuja, for allegedly stealing two cell phones.
The defendant, who had no fixed address, is facing trial for being in possession of a dangerous weapon and theft, offences he denied committing.
Police prosecutor Olarewaju Osho, told the court that the defendant was arrested and brought to Nyanya Police Station on Jan. 26.
“The defendant unlawfully removed two phones from two different people’s pockets at Nyanya Under Bridge.
“The stolen phones include, Infinix Hot 6, valued at N36,000 and belonging to one David Samuel, and Tecno Spark 8, valued at N75,000, belonging to one Salam Adeniyi.
“While conducting a search on the defendant, a dagger was recovered,” Osho said.
The judge, Inuwa Maiwada, however, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100,000 and one surety in like sum.
He later adjourned the case until March 9 for hearing.
