19 suspects have been arrested for allegedly stealing from a truck loaded with bags of rice along Zaria road.

Operatives of the Kano State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps have arrested 19 suspects who allegedly attacked a truck loaded with 50kg bags of Alhamsad Rice, along Zaria Road.

Confirming the event in a statent released on Monday,  the Public Relations Officer of the Command, Ibrahim Abdullahi, said the incident occurred on Sunday at about 11.30am.

The statement reads;

“A truck with plate number UGG 532 XA Kano, loaded with hundreds of bags of rice from Alhamsad Rice Mill, Sharada, Kano heading to Zaria, Kaduna State, has been attacked by hoodlums carting away substantial 50kg bags of rice loaded on the trailer,”

According to Abdullahi, while the heist was going on along Kano-Zaria Road, good citizen informed its operatives as they swiftly mobilised personnel to the scene.

According to Abdullahi, a total of 19 persons were apprehended, and 29 bags each weighing 50kg were retrieved from them.

The driver and his assistants were freed unharmed, while the offenders are currently under the custody of the corps.

Upon the conclusion of the investigation, the suspects will be arraigned, as per Abdullahi’s statement.

Meanwhile the Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika, has urged the Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to write his acceptance speech as the president-elect immediately.

Sirika also suggested that the speech should be kept short so that his supporters can sleep early.

In a tweet via his Twitter handle on Monday, the minister advised Tinubu to write his acceptance speech despite the ongoing announcement of the presidential election results. He said, “Notwithstanding the irritation in Lagos, Osun, Kano, Katsina, Yobe, Gombe, and a couple of others, ‘President-elect’ Sen Bola Ahmed Tinubu should write his acceptance speech now. But your Excellency, please make it short, we will sleep early tonight. ‘Zero tension’. Alhamdulillah.”
