19 Arrested by NSCDC for Allegedly Looting Rice Truck on Kano-Zaria Road
Operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, in Kano have arrested 19 suspects in connection with the alleged looting of a rice truck on Sunday.
According to DSC Ibrahim Idris-Abdullahi, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, the suspects attacked the truck along the Kano-Zaria road, which was carrying hundreds of 50kg bags of rice from Alhamsad Rice Mill located in Sharada, Kano.
The truck, which has the registration number UGG 532 XA, was heading to Zaria in Kaduna State when it was attacked by the hoodlums, who then looted the bags of rice.
DSC Ibrahim Idris-Abdullahi stated, “On receiving the report, operatives of the NSCDC swiftly mobilised personnel to the scene, arrested the suspects and 29 bags of rice were recovered from them.”
He said that the driver of the truck and his assistants were rescued unhurt, assuring that the suspects would be charged to court after conclusion of investigation.
Meanwhile, Nigeria comedian and actor Ayo Makun, popularly known as AY, has taken to social media to express his admiration and support for Peter Obi, the Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate who lost in the just-concluded 2023 Nigerian presidential election.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Tinubu, as the winner of the election, with 8,805,420 votes, beating Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP) and Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Despite the defeat, AY expressed his pride in Peter Obi for his courage, ambition, and plans for a better Nigeria, urging him to continue with his genuine intentions for the country.
In his Instagram post, AY wrote, “From the very day you honoured my open invitation to speak with Nigerians concerning the 2023 elections, I became proud of you and what you represent. Till this very minute, you still make a lot of people feel so proud of your courage, handwork, ambition, and plans for a better Nigeria. Continue to be honest with your genuine intentions for our country, Nigeria. No matter what you do in your life. Just know that I will always be supporting you.”
