1,500 households profit from FG solar project in Gombe State
No less than 1,500 rural inhabitants in Dakkiti, in the Akko Local Government Area of Gombe State, on Tuesday, profited from a public private partnership of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA).
The Managing Director of REA, Salihijo Ahmed, said the project was among the Federal Government’s efforts to power rural communities.
He disclosed this at the inauguration of the 100 units of solar panel, consisting of 96 batteries and 30KVA generator.
He said, “The Rural Electrification Agency is an implementing agency with the responsibility of powering unserved and underserved communities across Nigeria using off grid solutions.
“This project ensures that electricity is equitably distributed across the country.”
Executive Governor of Gombe State, Inuwa Yahaya, who inaugurated the project, called on the community to take ownership of the facility and safeguard it.
Governor Yahaya guaranteed that his administration would keep on giving social amenities, also emphasizing that over 70 percent of Gombe inhabitants were living in rural areas.
