14 arrested over alleged kidnaping in Jigawa

The men of Jigawa State Police command has nabbed about 14 kidnappers who recently killed two policemen and kidnapped a businessman.

Recall that some gunmen ambushed a police patrol team, killed two officers and set their patrol vehicle ablaze in Kwalam town, Taura Local Government Area.

State Commissioner of Police, CP Aliyu Sale Tafida, mentioned this while parading the suspects on Thursday at the Police headquarters in Dutse, the state capital of Zamfara.

He said the arrest of the suspects followed an operation flush out carried out by the command to fight all forms of criminality in the state.

CP Aliyu said three hideouts were raided in Dajin Maizuwo, Dan Gwanki and Yandamo villages in Sule-Tankarkar local Government during the exercise.

Tafida said during the operation ten males and four female suspects were arrested out of which two were injured as a result of gun fire exchange with the police.

He said two AK47 rifles belonging to the two policemen killed recently were recovered, one general-purpose Machine Gun (GPMG), nine magazines and 308 live ammunitions of 7.6mm were recovered.

The CP added that one kidnapped victim identified as Hadiza Alhaji Chadi who was kidnapped last week at Marma Village in Kirikasamma was also rescued unharmed.

Tafida, therefore, commended the Jigawa State Government for its support and other security agencies for their collaboration and synergy.
