1. Ben Murray Bruce, the Senator representing Bayelsa East constituency, on Monday withdrew from the senatorial race.

The lawmaker in a statement said he pulled out from the race having realized an existing local rotational arrangement of over 20 years beginning with the late Great Chief Melford Okilo, by which arrangement the Senatorial seat rotates per local government area among the three councils for four years in the Senatorial District.

2. The General Overseer of the Latter Rain Assembly, Pastor Tunde Bakare, has revealed that former Minister of Education, Oby Ezekwesili, will be contesting for presidency next year.

Bakare stated this while speaking at the Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS) Lagos on Monday.

3. President Muhammadu Buhari has invited a national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu and Lagos state governor, Akinwunmi Ambode to Abuja.

A source close to the presidency told our correspondent that Buhari is worried over the strained relationship between the duo, hence his decision to summon them.

4. Prof Pat Utomi has emerged candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, for the 2019 governorship election in Delta State.

The political economist emerged the standard bearer of the party at a parallel governorship primary organised by the Chief Cyril Ogodo-led factional State Working Committee of the party in Asaba, the state capital.

5. Senate President, Bukola Saraki and Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, were both absent at Nigeria’s 58th Independence Anniversary Parade, which held at The Eagle Square in Abuja.

However, President Muhammadu Buhari; his vice, Yemi Osinbajo; the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Walter Onnoghen; and former Head of State, Yakubu Gowon among other dignitaries were in attendance.

6. The main market in Gboko Local Government Area of Benue State, was in the early hours of Monday, October 1st, 2018 razed down by fire.

According to an eyewitness, the fire consumed over 300 shops and goods worth millions of Naira.

7. Delegates at the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) convention in Benue State have returned Governor Samuel Ortom as the standard bearer of the party ahead of 2019 gubernatorial election.

Ortom emerged the party’s candidate after pulling the total of 2,210 votes to defeat his closest rival, Surv. John Tondu who pulled 475 votes.

8. The Nigerian Government has acquired 23 war planes.

The planes were bought to mainly tackle insurgency in the North-East and to curtail security challenges in the country.

9. Former member of House of Representatives, Isa Ashiru Kudan, on Monday, emerged the flag-bearer of People’s Democratic Party (PDP) ahead the 2019 gubernatorial election in Kaduna State.

Ashiru, a one-time All Progressives Congress (APC) aspirant, who was the first runner up in the 2015 primaries that produced Governor Nasir el-Rufai will be contesting again against the governor who will be seeking reelection in 2019.

10. Senator Jeremiah Useni, representing Plateau South Senatorial zone has emerged the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Plateau in the 2019 general elections.

Useni polled 1018 votes to defeat 12 other candidates at the party’s primaries. His closest rival Johnbull Shekarau got 340 votes.
