  1. The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has commenced an indefinite strike across the nation beginning Sunday August 13.

According to ASUU President, Biodun Ogunyemi, the lecturers took the decision to down their tools at their National Executive Council (NEC) meeting held at the University of Abuja during the weekend.

  1. Three people died on Sunday after a storey-building collapsed in Owerri.

Several persons were also injured in the incident that happened in the state.

  1. Gunmen identified to be armed robbers have shot and killed a police officer guarding Assemblies of God Church on the Oguta road Onitsha, Anambra State.

One person identified as an okada rider was also killed by the robbers, while a passenger said to be on the victim’s bike sustained gunshot wound and has been rushed to the hospital

MEND, which also announced its withdrawal as a member of PANDEF, a forum of various ethnic nationality leaders in the Niger Delta, said it was “annoying working with pretenders who conspired to keep silent when Goodluck Jonathan wasted the opportunity of the region.”
