1. President Muhammadu Buhari was in Lagos State yesterday on a two-day working visit.

Buhari, who was accompanied by members of his cabinet and some governors, will be commissioning the Ikeja Bus Terminal and other projects of the state government.

2. Some yet-to-be identified gunmen have shot dead Samson Sedi, a leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the Etsako West Local Government Area of Edo state.

Sedi, the youth leader of the APC in the area, was killed in Jattu on Wednesday by his assailants.

3. Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, and a National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, have said they will not stop talking about the corruption perpetrated under the ex-President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration.

Speaking on Thursday at the 10th Bola Tinubu Colloquium in Lagos where the 66th birthday of the former governor of Lagos State was commemorated, the duo described corruption as an existential problem for Nigeria.

4. Minister of State, Aviation, Sen. Hadi Sirika, has explained that the delay in the establishment of national carrier was occasioned by the counter offer by the transaction advisers it earlier appointed.

Sirika, while addressing stakeholders on Thursday at the 4th Aviation Stakeholders Forum in Abuja, said the Lufthansa Group earlier appointed by the Federal Government failed to accept the offer.
5. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Thursday mocked President Muhammadu Buhari, following the controversy trailing the Martin Luther King award he received few days ago in Abuja.

The party’s spokesperson, Kola Ologbondiyan, PDP said the lie by Buhari’s handlers “smacks of desperation by the Presidency and the All Progressives Congress (APC), to procure international endorsement, ahead of the 2019 general elections.”

6. National leader of All Progressives Congress, APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has advised Nigerians not to accept the apology from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

Tinubu accused PDP of lying to Nigerians for 16 years, adding that they do not deserve forgiveness, having lied and failed on all promises.

7. Security agencies yesterday invaded the office of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Ikeja Branch, hours after it vowed to march against the Ambode government as President Buhari tours Lagos.

Scores of security men, including officials of the Department of State Services (DSS) led by DCP Operations, Lagos State Police Command, Mr A. Mohammed, stormed the premises Thursday night.

8. The Presidency has revealed that Heads of security agencies have uncovered plots by some groups to disrupt the processes leading to the 2019 general elections.

Mallam Garba Shehu, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, quoted the security chiefs in statement yesterday as saying this at the State House Conference Centre in Abuja, during an interactive meeting with owners and decision makers in the media.

9. The Nigerian Navy says it has discovered six new illegal refineries with combined capacity to refine four million litres of crude oil daily in Alakiri, Asari Toru Local Government Area of Rivers.

Capt. Victor Choji, Executive Officer of the Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) Pathfinder Port Harcourt, disclosed this while destroying one of the illegal refineries on Thursday in Alakiri, Asari-Toru, stressing that the refineries were discovered through intensive intelligence gathering and undercover operations by naval troops.

10. The Kogi State Command of the Nigeria Prisons Service on Thursday stated that prison formations in the state did not record any jail break, saying all its facilities are safe, intact and peaceful.

The Controller of Prisons in the state, Martyns Apebende, in an interactive session with journalists in Lokoja, clarified that report in some electronic media that the two principal suspects in the case of Senator Dino Melaye escaped from its custody was not true.
