Two women, Helen Nduwe and Eucharia Nnabofe, have been brought before an Ebute Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos for allegedly stealing and buying a three-year-old baby.

Nduwe, 42, and Nnabofe, 50, are facing trial on a three-count of conspiracy, stealing and buying of a baby.

The duo, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge preferred against them.

Sgt. Kehinde Omisakin told the court that the accused committed the offences on Dec. 31, 2017 at the Police Barracks in Obalende, Lagos.

The offences contravened Sections 277(a) (b) and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The Chief Magistrate, Mr Tajudeen Elias, admitted the two accused to bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum, one of whom must be gainfully employed.

He adjourned the matter until Feb. 20, for mention.
