Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has declared that the forthcoming 2019 elections will not stall projects delivery in the state.

He said he would remain focused on the completion of ongoing projects, while new  projects will be initiated.

The governor spoke yesterday, after inspecting ongoing projects in Port Harcourt and Obio/Akpor local government areas.

Projects visited included Port Harcourt Pleasure Park Cinemas and restaurants, Judges Quarters, Doctors Quarters, dualization of Hotel Presidential Road, Produce House, National Industrial Court, Mile One Market and Rumuolumeni Internal Roads.

He said: “I will not be distracted by the forthcoming elections. I am committed to the delivery of projects and programmes. We are focused on the mandate given to us by the people. No project will be abandoned.”

He said the administration would effectively use the dry season to achieve desired milestones at different project sites.

The governor said contractors have been further mobilised with funds to ensure no project suffers delay.

“We are impressing it on contractors that they must deliver because we are regular in payment.  Over the last three weeks, we have further mobilised contractors for them to increase the pace of work,” he said.

The governor was accompanied on the inspection by a member of the Rivers State Senior Secondary Schools Board, Chief Hanny Woko.
