The Value and benefits of Living In the moment

We do not always have what we want, but we usually have what we need. Things usually do not turn out the way we imagine they will, but they usually turn out the way they should. We have countless thoughts about the future or the past and the main one we are continuously distracted from is what is actually going on in the present moment. It is good to have a goal and vision for the future but do not let it cloud the moment. Anything worth accomplishing in the future is no more valuable than what you can experience in this present moment. Take it one day at a time, deal with what is in front of you right now instead of focusing on what has not happened. Right now is the only thing happening and this may be where it ends. If you make the most of the present you will also make the most of your future.

There are many benefits to living in the now such that as soon as you start living in the moment, you will want to keep on doing it more and more.

Improved concentration: You find lesser distractions and you experience improved focus and concentration when you become able to focus on the present moment for longer periods of time.

Improved effectiveness: Living in the present moment encourages an attitude of surrender and acceptance of the constant reality shift of one’s surroundings. One of the gifts of living in the present moment is that you become much more effective; you find yourself getting more things done in less time and with less effort.

You appreciate your world more: One of big advantages of becoming more present in your everyday life is that you decrease the amount of analysing you do to the things and people in your surroundings and you don’t judge them as much. In the moments when you are present, the ordinary world becomes more interesting and wonderful. Colors can seem brighter, you see more life in nature and in people. Things that most often seem common, routined and boring become fascinating and something you can appreciate. Its like you are observing your world with more clarity and curiousness.

Increased relaxation: There is no room left for thoughts of worry about the future or regret about the past when you set your mind to focus on the present. In this way, you find yourself relaxing into whatever it is you are doing.

 

You can only deal with the now and as long as you are riding the now, you will be riding the now every moment because the future will also be now at some point. If you want to experience the benefits of living in the present, It is a matter of moving your attention away from your thoughts and towards what’s actually happening here now.
