Unstoppable City Maul Tottenham 4-1 To Extend Lead

Published

Manchester City produced a superb display on Saturday to crush Tottenham 4-1 at the Etihad Stadium to extend their lead at the top of the English Premier League.

Ilkay Gundogan gave City the lead on 14 minutes of the game.

Gundogan was totally unmarked as he drifted into space on the six yard box and stooped to nod home Leroy Sane’s pacy corner.

Kevin de Bruyne made it 2-0 for City in the 70th minute of the game.

The Belgian picked himself up after that challenge from Dele Alli to double City’s lead – from heap to hero.

Hugo Lloris got a hand to it but just could not keep it out. De Bruyne’s powerful run ended with a firm drive as he dispatched Ilkay Gundogan’s pass on the counter attack.

On 80th minute,  Raheem Sterling made it 3-0 for City. Manchester City just make it look so easy. They cut through a ragged Tottenham backline after Mousa Dembele gave the ball away to Kevin de Bruyne in midfield.

Leroy Sane was found wide left, he drove in on goal, stalled for Raheem Sterling to enter stage right, and the England winger finally got an effort on target. A simple tap-in finish, after a brutally brief build-up.

Sterling got his brace on 90th minute to make it 4-0 for rampaging City.

Bernado Silva’s through ball got right through Eric Dier, Raheem Sterling was then perhaps lucky to knock it through Hugo Lloris’ legs as the keeper rashly rushed out, and then all that’s left to do was roll it home.

Christian Eriksen scored a consolation goal for Tottenham on added time to make it 4-1, but City celebrate as their day of coronation gets brighter.
