Twitter Confirms It’s Testing a Dedicated Tweetstorm Feature

Recently, Twitter upped its character limit to 280 to the delight of most Twitter users. Apparently, it’s not done neither is it resting on its oars in giving Twitter users the best experience.

Right now, Twitter is testing a dedicated feature to make it easier for users to tweetstorm.

The test first surfaced in September, but Twitter is now confirming the experiment, which is currently live only to people who are part of Twitter’s Experiments Program.

The latest version of the feature, which was spotted by Android Police, allows users to add multiple tweets to a single thread using a new “+” icon in the tweet composer. It’s not clear if it limits you to a specific number of tweets, though it appears each one has the same 280-character limit as the rest of Twitter.

Though tweetstorms have long been commonplace among power users for years, Twitter never made the process particularly intuitive for new users, despite their popularity. (Though Twitter has made some tweaks over the years to make long threads easier to follow.)

But making it an official part of the app would be yet another sign Twitter is ready to help users find ways to use its platform to share thoughts in a more “longform” way than the traditional 140 character limit, which itself was recently doubled.

Of course, Twitter as with every other major tech company, regularly tests new features and not all of them make their way to the public. But given the popularity of tweetstorms as they already exist, and Twitter’s recent commitment to lengthening tweets, it seems that the feature certainly has a good shot at becoming official.
