History is littered with the great endeavours of outstanding men and women who stretched beyond the boundaries of human and circumstantial limitations to carve their names in gold. Most often, they owe their success to that singular thing which they know for sure… – Isaac Oladipupo

In their own ways and the communities in which they live, these men and women write their names in the sands of time and in the process shaped their own destinies. Some would say fortune smiled on them; but ample evidences have shown that, even without necessarily being conscious of it, the confident steps of these societal models have always being guided by that one thing that they know for sure.

Sometimes, it is an innate intuition; just like the now-retired iconic TV host Ophrah Winfrey who says that one of the things she knows for sure is: “Trust your instincts. Intuition doesn’t lie.” And sometimes too, these societal models allow themselves to be led by some sacrosanct codes borrowed from others who have walked the same paths of greatness.

So when we posed this ‘simple’ question to our respected respondents, it unsurprisingly caught most of them off-guard. With each person, our poser was met first with narrowed eyes, and then creased brows, a finger to the lips, an itching of the head and more often than not…a pregnant pause!  Then would come that one-liner or so; that “one thing I know for sure” that summarises the set of principles that gravitate them towards their goals and dreams.

For each of them, it is that one thing that’s certain, real, and true. And here we share their wisdom with you; just as we ask you also: what do you know for sure?
