  1. President Muhammadu Buhari on Sunday presided over a meeting of security chiefs at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The meeting, which was part of the ongoing efforts to engage military and intelligence community towards addressing Boko Haram insurgency, had in attendance all the service chiefs, the Inspector-General of Police, Idris Ibrahim and the Director-General of the Department of State Service (DSS), Yusuf Bichi.

Oke died in Abuja on Saturday at the age of 51.

According to the centre, the now viral image shows two gentlemen in Nigerian military uniform, one is dead while the other is loudly crying.

  1. Specialised Tasks, Training, Equipment and Protection International (STTEP), a South African mercenary company, says President Muhammadu Buhari ignored intelligence warnings about operations of Boko Haram in Borno.

In a Facebook post on Sunday, STTEP chairman, Eeben Barlow, claimed Nigerian soldiers have been reaching out for help since his company’s services were terminated.

  1. Former governor of Akwa Ibom State, Senator Godswill Akpabio, has clarified that he did not defect to the All Progressives Congress, APC, but only moved to the party.

Akpabio said he was surprised that the same people who founded the ruling party were the ones pulling it down.

  1. The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has responded with heavy airstrikes directed at Boko Haram terrorists’ locations and vehicles after about one hundred soldiers were killed in a coordinated attack on a military base in Metele village of Guzamala Local Government Area, Borno State.

A top military intelligence officer told PRNigeria that the latest airstrikes had destroyed a convoy of vehicles linked to Boko Haram attackers involved in last week raid on the military base at Metele in Borno State.
