1. The Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, on Monday, sacked the Managing Directors of three television and radio stations in the state. According to Wike, they were dismissed because of their failure to attend a meeting organized by the Broadcasting Organisation of Nigeria (BON) led by the Chairman, John Momoh. The stations whose MDs were sacked are the Rivers State Television, Radio Rivers and Garden City Radio.

2. President Muhammadu Buhari has approved an enhanced salary structure for the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) and gave the assurance that his administration will continue paying attention to the welfare and operational needs of the force. Buhari’s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Malam Garba Shehu, in a statement on Monday, said the president confirmed the approval in the State House, Abuja after hosting members of the Police Service Commission and the leadership of the force who were on a “thank you” visit to him.

3. The Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, on Monday threatened to drag a former governor of the state, Senator George Akume before the Supreme Assembly of the Tiv Area Traditional Council. This follows Akume’s alleged claim that the Benue State government and not herdsmen, was behind the killings in the state. Ortom said since Akume had chosen to tell President Muhammadu Buhari that militia herdsmen were not behind the massacre of Benue people, it implies that he has adequate knowledge about the killings.

4. The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, on Monday accused the Minister of Defence, Mansur Muhammad Dan-Ali, of allegedly diverting funds meant for military equipment and welfare of soldiers fighting insurgency in the northeast. PDP claimed that the Minister was diverting the funds to produce campaign materials for the All Progressives Congress (APC). This was contained in a statement signed by its spokesperson, Kola Ologbondiyan.

5. The National Industrial Court, Abuja, has ordered Fidelity Bank Plc to pay N340, 361 to its dismissed staff, Mr Alah Jonathan. The amount is the ex-worker’s one-month salary in lieu of notice of termination of his employment. The dismissed worker had sought redress in court after his dismissal without being paid a month’s salary in lieu of notice of termination of his employment.

6. The Zamfara State Government has suspended four traditional rulers over their alleged involvement with bandits terrorising the state. Their suspension was announced on Monday in Gusau by the state Commissioner of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Bello Dankande, at a press conference. He said those suspended were the district heads of Gora in Talata-Mafara Local Government Area, Musa Bariki, the district head of Barikin Daji, village heads of Gyado and Tungan Dutsi both in Bukkuyum Local Government Area of the state.

7. The Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Atiku Abubakar on Monday accused President Muhammadu Buhari and the All Progressives Congress, APC, of ignoring the welfare of soldiers fighting Boko Haram while spending N100m on ”plagiarised campaign advert.” Abubakar said that neither Buhari nor the APC had done much to alleviate the suffering of the troops on the frontline. This was contained in a statement by Atiku’s Media Office.

8. The meeting between the Federal Government and the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) on Monday in Abuja ended without any agreement. Prof. Biodun Ogunyemi, ASUU President, disclosed this while addressing newsmen after the closed-door meeting. Ogunyemi said though negotiation was still ongoing to find a lasting solution to the ongoing strike, the meeting has so far remained inconclusive.

9. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has denied reports that it received N10million donation from the Kano State governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, to organise anti-corruption marathon. A statement by Ganduje’s spokesman, Aminu Yassar, had claimed that the governor donated the money to EFCC, ICPC and Athletic Federation of Nigeria for the anti-corruption campaign. But in a swift reaction by EFCC spokesman, Tony Orilade, the commission distanced itself from receiving any donation from the state governor.

10. Triple MG boss, Ubi Franklin has called for prayers for Nigerian singer, Tekno, disclosing why the Nigerian Singer has not been singing and performing for a while. In a statement released, Ubi said Tekno has been battling with an ailment. He said Tekno’s vocal box has been temporarily damaged and he may not be able to sing or perform for a while.
