  1. The Taraba State Governor, Darius Ishaku, has disclosed that 264 persons were confirmed to have been killed and property worth billions of naira destroyed during the 2017/2018 crisis on the Mambilla Plateau, Sadauna Local Government Area of the State.

Ishaku, who regretted the casualty figure, however, said the Assessment Committee which visited 53 communities in the area, discovered that 264 people were killed and not the over 1000 as reported by the media.

  1. The Police said it had arrested four of its personnel on duty at the residence of Deputy President of the Senate, Ike Ekweremadu, when the alleged assassination attempt on him took place.

Also arrested, according to the Force Public Relations Officer, Acting DCP Jimoh Mohood, is one personnel of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) also on duty at Ekweremadu’s home at the time.

  1. A police provost identified as Insp. Kadima Useni, attached to Police Mobile Force, Squadron 22 Base, Ikeja was on Wednesday dismissed by the force.

Lagos State Police Command’s Spokesman, CSP Chike Oti, confirming his dismissal, said that the policeman was apprehended following a viral video which showed him drunk at Dopemu area of Lagos.

  1. Nigeria’s Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed, has said President Muhammadu Buhari will soon review the report of the minimum wage tripartite committee, that was submitted to him on Tuesday.

The Minister said Buhari will make his decision known to the committee when he is ready.

  1. Flight operations were on Wednesday evening disrupted at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos following a power outage.

The outage which occurred at about 6.05pm and lasted for over an hour sparked anger from those in and around the facility.

  1. Suspected Boko Haram terrorists last night attacked a military formation in Katarko village in Gujba Local Government Area of Yobe State.

A source told DAILY POST that troops manning the village engaged the attackers in a gun battle that lasted for hours.

  1. Gunmen have kidnapped a Catholic Priest, Very. Rev.Fr. Emmanuel Obadjere alongside three others on their way to Ekpoma, Edo State.

The priest is in charge of St. Williams Catholic Church, Orerokpe, Okpe Local Government Area in Delta State.

  1. Governor El-Rufai of Kaduna State, has said state governments should be allowed to implement the proposed new minimum wage based on their income.

The governor, who also stated that personal income tax should be collected by the states, emphasised the need for amendments in the constitution so that some items can be removed in favour of the states.

  1. The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Lagos State chapter, has alleged that President Muhammadu Buhari led All Progressives Congress, APC, government was buying votes ahead of the 2019 election.

The PDP described the N10,000 Trader Moni as an inducement.

  1. Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in Enugu State, Comrade Virginius Nwobodo, has explained why labour halted the planned strike despite non immediate implementation of the new minimum wage.

Nwobodo said he was optimistic that the minimum wage would be fully implemented before the end of the month if the government was really sincere and interested in redeeming its image.
