Stay true to yourself

No one was born perfect, we have all had our share of life’s ups and downs, however, in the midst of this, you have to be true to yourself. Here are four steps to help you to real with YOU;

Tell your real story. When you share your moments of sleeping in uncompleted buildings, living on a meagre salary to sustain your family, wearing a shirt and a trouser everyday in one week because that was all you could afford and rising against all odds, authenticity appears. Do not hide and dwell behind perceived views of success. Sharing moments that were not so beautiful allows for others to connect to the core of your brand and message.

Discuss personal challenges and failures. Oprah Winfrey shared the story of how she was molested in her younger years, nobody likes to be in that kind of a situation but she had to do so to acknowledge her struggles and inspire others who might encounter a similar challenge.

Connect more deeply with others. When other people share their struggles and challenges with you, offer up times when you encountered similar problems, too. It will bond you to others who have experienced the same hardship.

Ask others the right questions. When networking, instead of asking the basic questions, ask ones that really pinpoints what is important to someone so you can truly get to know him or her. Instead of asking, “What do you do?” try asking something like, “What made you enter this field?”
