A Nigerian man arrested by the Thai police over the weekend, is the latest in an ongoing battle against foreigners who are flooding the popular tourist destination with cocaine and other drugs.

45-year-old Chinedu Victor Okeke was arrested on Saturday after jumping out of the window of his house, climbing over a fence and attempting to hide from police and soldiers in a nearby temple in Bophut.

However, officers managed to catch him and took him back to his house where a search of the property revealed more than 280 grams of cocaine stashed at various points around the property.

Upon questioning, Chinedu admitted selling cocaine to both Thai and foreign tourists on Koh Samui for between 1,000 and 18,000 baht. Police said there has been an increase in foreigners going to Koh Samui for the purpose of selling drugs.

Chinedu was also found to have overstayed his visa and remains in police custody.
